Poetry in the Pines is an outdoor reading and discussion group held in the pine forest of the Cumming Nature Center in Naples, NY. It is a reading group for readers without the time to read: participants are invited to bring a poem, a song, an excerpt of an essay, etc. (no longer than one page! Must be written by someone NOT in attendance! Should not be written by oneself!!) to read aloud with the group and discuss, related to the themes of nature, agriculture, conservation, or eco-consciousness. Those who don't want to bring a poem with them are welcome to come listen, or choose a selection while on-site. The event will begin with a wine tasting by Living Roots urban winery and a brief viticulture talk to orient readers to the local landscape by LR co-owner Sebastian Hardy. Participants are encouraged to bring a snack to pair and share! The event is supported by a partnership with Writers & Books in Rochester.
Tickets are $12 at the door, cash only.
It’s an age old question – kinda like ‘which came first, the chicken or the egg’. But more important – does wine or beer go better with certain dishes? Join Sager Beer Works and Living Roots Wine & Co. as they pair their libations with a special menu, discuss why they suggest each pairing and then vote for your favorite. Chef Anthony will be preparing a wide range of dishes to allow for a fair test. After voting, enter to win some fun prizes. $45/person

Fueled with inspiration from the traditional French Diner en Blanc (Dinner in White), a committee of Finger Lakes wine industry representatives wanted to create an event early this summer highlighting Finger Lakes Dry Rosé while creating a classic soirée style celebration to be held outside, on Linden Street, in Geneva NY. For those of you not familiar with Linden Street; it is that quaint, romantic alley lined with brick that is home to Microclimate Wine Bar.
