V22 in the Adelaide Hills

‍Hello friends! We’re currently in Australia for our 13th vintage for Living Roots [can you believe it?!], and we wanted to give you a little sneak peek into what’s happening on this side of the world.

‍It’s been a cooler season which means nice, slow ripening [with tempatures still in the 70s/80s – no complaining here!] and harvest being ~2 weeks later than ‘normal’. Crops are light, but quality looks good, and periodic rains have been good for vine growth and balance without too much disease pressure. We’re continuing to make old favourites like Pinot Noir and Grenache, and alternatives under our Underground label like Montepulciano, Cabernet Tannat and Shiraz Aglianico.

‍We’re kicking off distribution on the east coast of Australia this month – New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland – and our Finger Lakes wines have been well received so far – even though they end up being $40-50 USD/bottle after import costs and taxes. We’re grateful for the support, and the chance to share the Finger Lakes with our family and friends in Australia.

‍We’ll be back in Rochester in late spring – stay tuned for details on club cellar tastings to sample what we made from the 2021 Finger Lakes vintage, and to hear from Seb and our winemaking team about our process. We look forward to seeing you then.

‍FLX Pop-Up

What’s up with the pop-up? Where’s that tasting room? Good question! We’re going through the approval process with the town of Urbana, and still hoping to break ground on a new winery and tasting room before summer 2022. This means our pop-up might be a little dusty, but even more exciting! It’ll be back open every Friday – Sunday late May through early October.

‍ROC Tasting Room

At our downtown Rochester location, heaters for the patio are getting installed which means our outdoor season can start sooner and extend further! Just a reminder, we still recommend reservations for the tasting room as [especially on weekends] it books up quickly.
